Mitchell Schefcik is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Optira, Inc. with offices in San Jose, CA, Omaha, NE, & Green Bay, WI. Optira is a privately held technology and services company specializing in the application of 3D imaging and Building Information Modeling technologies to deliver highly accurate and reliable documentation for both public and private sector clients. Appointed to this position in January 2004, he leads the firm's strategic vision and is instrumental in the conception and ongoing development of the company's technology platforms and service offerings. During his service with Optira, Schefcik has held leadership roles in both project management and business development.
Schefcik is committed to helping establish standards of quality, reliability and interoperability within the disciplines of architecture, engineering, construction, real estate and technology. He advocates the use of 3D imaging systems to accurately characterize "as-is" conditions of existing structures prior to and during construction phases. This approach to field measurement and documentation increases the accuracy, availability and usability of virtual, smart object modeling technology within the design; construction and operation of buildings resulting in improvements in actualized building performance and sustainability across the portfolio.
Prior to co-founding Optira, Schefcik developed his management skills as the Precision Agricultural Team Leader for the J.R. Simplot Company, a privately held food and agribusiness corporation based in Boise, Idaho, where he led a team of technological and agronomic professionals in developing a precision agriculture program founded on scientific principles and environmental stewardship.
Schefcik is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska. There he studied technical agriculture, specializing in land surveying and environmental engineering for natural resources and soil conservation.
